Bully Busting Program

Bully-Busting Program

All three Haddon Heights elementary schools implemented an anti-bullying curriculum based on an award-winning initiative created at Robert Frost Elementary School in East Brunswick in conjunction with the New Jersey State Bar Foundation's Conflict Resolution, Teasing and Anti-Bullying Programs.

The program contains essential lessons to further promote our anti-bullying initiatives and character education lessons. These lessons teach students what bullying is, how they can do their part to stop it, and encourage students to take ownership for maintaining a positive school climate. These lessons will be taught in every classroom during their “morning meeting” time and will be reinforced by the homeroom teachers, specialists, and other staff members. Creating a positive school culture, and a peaceful school are the goals of the program. It is our desire that all students will feel safe coming to school and understand that bullying is not a natural part of growing up.

Essential Lessons Include:

Recognizing Bullying and Normal Conflict

Recognizing Passive, Aggressive, and Assertive Behavior

Using "I" Messages

Telling or Tattling

Bystander Strategies

Conflict Resolution Steps: The Win/Win Guidelines
