Occupational and Physical Therapy

Occupational & Physical Therapy Services

School-based occupational and physical therapy services are provided by highly qualified licensed practitioners trained in their field. In Special Education, related services such as school-based occupational and physical therapy are determined through IEP team agreement with goals created and monitored to ensure the least restrictive interventions are being implemented in order for a child to have access to a free and appropriate public education.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists complete assessments and work with other members of the school-based team to help determine what is needed for a student to receive a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.  They collaborate with other members of the education team to identify a student's annual goals and determine the services, supports, modifications, and accommodations that are required for the student to achieve these goals. School-based occupational therapy can be provided through consultation, integrated and pull-out services for a student determined warranted for this service need.

I am so excited to be working with the children of Haddon Heights School District! I am an occupational therapist with 16 years of experience working in the public schools. Not only do I love working with the children, I also love collaborating with teachers and parents. By working together, we can make sure the students' skills are carried over from the therapy room to the classroom. I look forward to a great school year! We wish Ms. Battle, our previous Occupational Therapist, the best as she moves on to another district. Information regarding her replacement/s is forthcoming. Listed below is a brief letter from Ms. Battle.

Hello Students and Parents,

I will be making the transition to a new Occupational Therapy (OT) opportunity this fall and I wanted to let you know first-hand. Your children have forever stolen a piece of my heart and I will always remember everything they have accomplished and their smiles every day. I will truly miss every single one of them always and know they will continue to grow and learn in the wonderful environment of Haddon Heights. Their new OT will be so lucky to have such an amazing group! Have a wonderful 2017-18 school year.

Sincerely,

Celeste Battle

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists provide essential school-based services for children with disabilities.  Physical therapy helps children overcome the mobility and other functional obstacles impacting learning in the school setting. School-based physical therapy provides children with disabilities access to the educational opportunities they need in order to receive a free appropriate public education .
